New President for Wicklow Chamber

Wicklow Businessman Denis Fielding last week (Tuesday 9th February) took over as President of Wicklow Town & District Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting.

Addressing the AGM on Tuesday, Fielding paid tribute to outgoing president Martina Robinson for all her hard work and progress she has led within the Chamber over the past year.

He said looking forward into 2010, he believed the Chamber could have an important role in shaping the way we grow out of these difficult economic times.

“It is my belief that the Chamber can offer the carriage for all business to prosper in to the weeks and months ahead. It is my main mission to provide you with as much help as is possible to keep your businesses thriving into the future”

Fielding said he was also well aware of the difficulties retailers are facing at the moment. “I hope with a vibrant and energetic Retail Committee we can help meet those difficulties head on and find new and innovative ways of bringing more foot-fall to our streets and shops.”

He also highlighted continued Chamber involvement in the re-development of Clermont and targeting the litter issues in Wicklow as top of his agenda as Chamber President for 2010. “With the recent bad press with regard to litter I think it’s imperative that we all work together to make Wicklow an attractive place to visit and work.”

He said he also planned to use his own area of expertise in IT to develop the Chamber website even further and establish it as a “One-Stop-Shop” for potential clients so they could see what the chamber members have to offer.

I believe the Chamber is all about its members and it is my main mission to provide you with as much help as it is possible to keep your businesses thriving in to the future. Value for money is one of the key components in the retention and attraction of new members. Among other things I’d like to develop our Chamber website even further and establish it as a “One-Stop-Shop” for potential clients to see what the chamber members have to offer. Our membership committee will have a huge task this year but with the help of an already active IT/Education committee will have no shortage of ideas in how to add value.

Fielding joined the Wicklow Chamber of Commerce in January 2006 and has been actively involved ever since. He has chaired the IT/Education Committee for 3 years and in 2008 won an award for “Most Outstanding Contribution by a Chamber Member”. He is Sales Director of Acuity SOS IT Solutions and has over 10 years experience in the IT industry.
