Another vital area of the Chamber’s work, bearing in mind the ‘living heart’ of the town, is to revive the retail business here, and encourage more local shopping generally. The Chamber has been increasingly concerned about the continued drop in local footfall on Wicklow Town’s streets and, over the past number of months, has worked determinedly to promote the “Shop Local” principle. After much research, this has culminated in the launch, just last month, of an exciting new initiative to counter this downward trend.

Wicklow & District Chamber of Commerce has designed a brand new, high-quality, prestigious Chamber Shopping Voucher, which is beautifully presented in a purpose-designed sleeve, making it a fabulous gift to receive.

In the current economic climate, the Chamber is aware that it is very important that we support local businesses.

The Chamber is strongly encouraging all to ‘shop local’ this Christmas, and support local employment. All employers are being asked to consider giving a gift of the Wicklow Town Shopping Voucher to their employees this Christmas, particularly in view of the fact that a gift of up to €250 per employee can be made, without tax implications for the employee. Businesses in the locality should also consider the vouchers as Christmas gifts for valued customers of theirs, instead of the usual ‘bottle or biscuits’.

These new, highly attractive vouchers can be purchased from the Chamber office, and are available in denominations of €5, €10, €20 and €50. The vouchers are redeemable in all participating retail outlets, a list of which can be obtained from the Chamber office, or in outlets where you see the promotional window stickers.
